For those of you who have definitely decided that you are going to Prince Edward Island Stratfords of the World ister Cities Reunion in September it is time to finalise your registration, pay the money and send off the necessary information.

So come to the Registration Night on Monday 16th April, at 7.30pm at Uniting Church Hall in Jones St, Stratford.

Having looked at the current exchange rate we are asking you to bring $200 (Australian) with you – cash or cheque ok.

If you have the capacity to print off the registration/information form from the website, fill it in and bring it with you that would be great. If you don’t have capacity to print off the paperwork let Hilary (phone 51 456 473) or Judy (phone 51 456 836) know and we’ll bring a copy of it to the meeting for you to fill out.

If you have definitely decided to come to the Reunion but aren’t able to come on Monday evening get in touch with us so we can work out how to get your information and money as soon as possible so we can send off the “bulk registration”.

If you are still not sure remember the registration fee goes up after May 15th and final closing date is July 15th.

It’s PEI Again in Sept 2012!

Stratfordians (and friends) are getting organised to travel to Prince Edward Island in Canada for the 2012 Reunion from 13-19 September 2012.

PEI hosted the reunion in 2001 and the exciting schedule and friendly hosts will keep our representatives busy.

Stratford Sister Cities Reunion in New Zealand

A group of 45 residents from Stratford and surrounding districts are eagerly preparing for the next Stratford Sister Cities Reunion which will be held in Stratford in the North Island of New Zealand, from the 4th to the 10th of March.
As well as the 45 folk from Victoria, there are 30 coming over from Stratford Ontario, Canada, 9 from Stratford-upon-Avon in England, and 6 from Prince Edward Island in Canada. Unfortunately there are no participants from Stratford, Connecticut, USA. this time.
Part of the tradition of these reunions is for each country to present a gift to the host nation. This year we are fortunate to be taking the beautiful quilt made locally by our “M and M” Quilting group, which was featured in the Anglican quilt show late last year.

The New Zealand committee has organized an interesting program for all who are attending, including a Heritage Walk, a Maori Marae visit, being part of Baldrick’s Big Day Out carnival, and town market day. Optional tours to Mt Egmont, around the Taranaki area, Hollard Gardens, beef and sheep farms and an Opossum Factory, are all available.
As well, there will be lunches and dinners, a Medieval Banquet (where we are encouraged to dress for the occasion), a theatre performance, a church service and of course the opportunity to get to know our host families.

Our last day includes a tour to the Republic of Whangamomona which is a small remote village that broke away from New Zealand in 1989. We will tell you more about this when we return.

All reunions feature a concert, where each “Stratford” performs an item. Several of our Stratford Singers are attending this reunion, so they are busy practising for “our” item.

Some people are taking extra time to tour around other parts of New Zealand, and some of the northern hemisphere “Stratfordians” are calling in here to see our area during their travels.

Update and AGM Reminder

On Tuesday 29 Sept we had our information and registration night for the New Zealand reunion to be held 4 to 10 March, 2010. We were fortunate to have a gentleman from a tour company who showed slides and DVDs of the various methods of getting around in NZ and the places to see when touring either before or after the reunion. He also advised that anyone attending the reunion who book a Kirra coach tour through Flying Colours in Sale will not have to pay the meal component for the tour which amounts to about $400 on an average length tour.

Most of the people present lodged the registration form and payed the fee. For those who have not paid, the dead line for lodging the registration form and paying the fee to the Committee is Friday 9 Oct. If you wish to go please lodge the form and fee with the Treasurer by that time. If you are unable to comply with this deadline, you can register directly with the NZ Committee but you will be responsible for the bank fees charged for such a foreign currency transaction.

The AGM will be held at 7.30, Tuesday 13 Oct in the Stratford Uniting Church Hall. All interested people are warmly invited to attend.

Annual Meeting

This year’s Annual General Meeting will be held in the Stratford Uniting Church Hall at 7.30pm, Tues, 13 Oct 2009 followed by an ordinary Committee meeting. Nominations for positions and items of business should be submitted to the Secretary prior to the meeting.

Information Night

At 7.30pm on Tues 14th Feb 2012 at the Uniting Church Hall in Jones St Stratford, an Information Night will be held regarding the 2012 reunion to be held on Prince Edward Island, Canada in September. The reunion program will be explained, in addition to advice on getting there and home again, and pre and post reunion tours. Only financial members of the Stratford Sister Cities Association are eligible for registration. Annual dues of $10 can be paid on the night to ensure eligibility.
